Literature Text

I felt completely and utterly alone,
That I was walking through this all on my own.
No one could really understand my feelings,
I myself am still reeling.
I was used to having no one to help me,
That’s just always how it had to be.
I thought I was alone through it all,
That no one would be there to catch me when I fall.

But I was wrong about everything,
I did see what God was about to bring.
God works in magical, mysterious ways
And things are usually confusing on their own every day.
But I think maybe all of this happened to us
So we could see we were not alone and had someone to trust.

He gave me you
So I can have someone to turn to.
He gave us each other
To help one another.
He brought us together
To realize we won’t be alone forever.
He made you only a knock away
So I get to see you every day.
He gave me the best neighbor I could ask for,
Because finding you opened a new door.

Mysterious, hectic, and confusing as it all has been,
I wouldn't trade any of it because it made you my friend.
I wrote this poem to my really dear friend and neighbor in the doorms, Kimmy. She and I have lived such similar lives with similar experiences and tragedies, and these have helped us develop a friendship unlike any other I have with people on campus, even my wonderful roommate. I am so thankful that she and I have become close <3 Even if it means we had to endure this stuff... I'm glad I did if it atleast lead to us becoming the friends we are today. Together, we can get through this <3

Beautiful poem, very well written. I like the rhyming pattern and the message it sends. It's always nice to know you have someone to go to when things get tough.
